Flock Persons of the Month

February

Cardy White and John Duncan have been elected February 2012 Flockpersons of the Month by the Congregational Care Ministry Team. Cardy was nominated by her Shepherds, Gail Lehman and Madelyn Frye, and John was nominated by his Shepherds, Jeanne and Jack Fisher.

Cardy White, a native of  Tuskegee, Alabama, has been involved with the Presbyterian Church since she was fourteen years old. Although she was baptized in the Methodist Church, Cardy joined the Presbyterian Church in Tuskegee when she was a teenager and states, “I have never been sorry.”  She attended Presbyterian affiliated colleges (Agnes Scott and Southwestern in Memphis.)  She was married to a Presbyterian minister.

She was a Director of Christian Education for five years and later worked as a civil servant with the Social Security Administration, from which she is now retired. Cardy has served on several Presbytery committees in Western North Carolina, including a three-year term as Chair of Evangelism. Ordained as an Elder, Cardy has been very active in the life of our church, serving as Clerk of Session, singing in the Choir, and being a member of the Ruth Circle.

 

John Duncan, a long-time resident of Franklin, has been a petroleum marketer and entrepreneur. He has four children: Kimberly Carrie Field, Ashley Justine Vinson, John Harper Duncan, and Pearl Louise Duncan. He also has five grandchildren: John Thomas Vinson, Andrew Duncan Field, Lillian Rose Field,  Jorge Hernandez, and Elizabeth Paige Bloch.

Having attended the University of Georgia, John is an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Music is also an important part of John’s life. An ordained Elder, John has been active in the life of our church, having served  as Chair of the Worship and Music Ministry Team, and the Business Affairs Ministry Team. He is currently serving as Co-Chair of the PNC (Pastor Nominating Committee) and also plays in the Chapel Band.
